Felt Flash cards

Alphabet Flash cards

I decided to make a flash card matching game.
My little guys are 6,4,3, and 6 months. So it is perfect, plus they are a lot more durable then those paper flash cards and match games. Since I know the baby will end up trying to eat a few! hahaha
So here is how we play, its just the same old basic games
first lay the fabric cards face down.
 Big A little a
That is right, find the little letter that matches the big letter.
Easy right. Then we play beginning sounds.A is for apple.
Or B is for bee...
This is how I made them.
Step one is to gather your felt or whatever fabric your going to use. I used felt because it is cheap and thick, it kind of holds it shape. It is also super easy to work with.
Step two is to cut out your squares.

You will need two squares per card.
Step three is to cut out your letters or picture pieces.
Step four is to sew them on one of the card pieces.
The you will sew your second card piece onto the first one. like so...
I used my Serger. Using felt I could have just used a straight stitch because it doesn't fray. But I wanted the white boarder. I love these and making the pictures was totally fun! So be creative and make some of your own!

Question: Do you use flash cards, or matching games when teaching your kids the alphabet?
Leave a comment, I would love some feed back!

There is so much freedom in how far we can take  an experiment or how long we can work on it. The other day my husband started to explain to our kids why oil doesn't mix with water. So today we experimented with water density. There are different versions of this experiment and this is how we did ours.   Things needed : Oil, water, salt, sugar, food coloring, clear glasses or jars, measuring cup. Here's what we did: Step one: Fill three clear jars half way each with warm water. ( Helps the salt and sugar dissolve)  Pour 1/2 cup of salt in the first jar and stir it to mix. Pour 1/2 cup of sugar in the second jar and stir to mix. Leave the third jar with plain fresh water. (Notice the salt in ours didn't fully dissolve but was still more dense then the others.) Step two: Pour 1/2 a cup of vegetable oil into ea
